Indian Motorcycle has a new price sheet for its entire line-up sold here. There’s a massive discount of Rs 1.89 lakh on the Indian Scout Sixty, which is the entry point to the brand. The maximum reduction is Rs 2.99 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, India) for the Indian Chieftain, which earlier cost Rs 35 lakh.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) sent out a notification last month, which stated that custom duties on completely build units (CBU) will now be 50 percent for motorcycles with displacement above 800cc instead of 75 percent. Additionally, the government cut custom duties on motorcycles under 800cc from 60 percent to 50 percent.

Apart from Triumph, which brings its bikes here as CKDs, most manufacturers benefited from this move. Pankaj Dubey, managing director and country head, Polaris India, said, “We are glad that the government has rationalised the import duty structure to 50 percent across the range for imported bikes. The new attractive price of our products available in India will definitely lead to more sales. This will also create opportunities for enthusiasts to buy our iconic products and be a part of the Indian Motorcycle family.”
