  • KTM will launch fuel-injected two-strokes soon

These new bikes will be part of KTM's 2018 international line-up. They will be the first of their kind to be fuel injected rather than carburetted and will debut in showrooms across Europe in June-July. The new system is referred to as TPI (Transfer Port Injection) by KTW's R&D department in Mattighofen, Austria.

Not much has been revealed officially, but the company claims the engine uses much less fuel, along with no longer having to pre-mix engine oil in fuel or fiddle around with jetting in the carburettor. When asked about the bikes and what they mean for the company, KTM’s product marketing manager Joachim Sauer said, “This is an incredibly exciting development for KTM. We have been developing two-stroke fuel injection for some time and our goal was to create competitive motorcycles with all the benefits of fuel injection while fitting into our Ready to Race mantra. There has been extensive testing and considerations for our R&D team to take into account during this process, so we are very motivated by this next step and the world-first in technology.”

KTM is a huge name in the racing world, bagging almost 16 wins in the Dakar Rally and other triumphs in Supercross, Motocross and Enduro racing. Its past record makes the launch of the new bikes very exciting news for the auto industry.
