The company will launch the latest version of the ES 300h sedan in India in August 2018. The car was first shown in April this year and is built on Lexus’ front-wheel-drive Global Architecture-K.
The company’s signature spindle grille is now bigger, the headlights too are larger and sharper to look at. The boot looks nicely sculpted and features slickly detailed LED tail lamps. On the inside, there’s a 12.3-inch infotainment system that can be operated via a touchpad and features voice-recognition tech. This car will offer more features than its predecessor and even though there is a pure-petrol version of the ES sold abroad, India will only get the ES 300h hybrid. The hybrid powertrain works with a new 2.5-litre petrol engine, giving a combined system output of 218hp.
The car will be brought here as a completely built unit from Japan, so it will attract a higher rate of duty. Prices are expected to be around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
