Former Audi India chief Michael Perschke will most probably head a new subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra. This new division will work on creating high-performance electric vehicles. The New Mahindra EV project, called 'Project Montana' internally, will be based in Europe. The company will focus on creating high-end all-electric models under the Pininfarina brand. Perschke was Director for Global Sales Strategy at Audi and was brought on board in February.
Perschke hinted on a Twitter post saying, "14 years with Volkswagen, 9 years with Audi and now up for a new venture @Company_in_stealth_mode so stay tuned!". On Linkedin, he changed his status to senior strategic advisor and project lead for an 'EV-start up' in February.
Mahindra's high-performance EV subsidiary will work independently from Mahindra Electric, which is the company’s mainstream electric subsidiary.
