Royal Enfield is readying a new version of the Thunderbird called the 500X. These new bright coloured motorcycles are expected to hit the market soon, maybe even as early as January 2018. Reports suggest that the bike appears to be in production ready form.
The new version of the bike will continue to use the same 500cc motor and gearbox that powers the outgoing model. That said, there are many differences that set it apart from the regular bike. Firstly, the handlebar is different and the seats are significantly more contemporary. The wheels on the motorcycle are black and run tubeless tyres. The engine this time around gets a matte black finish instead of silver. Furthermore, the shock absorbers and silencer also get a similar matte black finish.
The new wheels are multiple-spoke units with a 19-inch front and an 18-inch rear. Like the new Classic 500, this version comes equipped with disc brakes at the front and rear. However, the headlight and taillight units remain identical to the outgoing Thunderbird. In conclusion, the updated look makes the Thunderbird look modern and rather nice-looking.
The bright coloured shades of red, yellow, blue and white shows the manufacturer’s intent of aiming at younger buyers. More information on the 500X will surface once the launch nears. The manufacturer is also working its new 650cc range, which is expected to hit the market in 2018.
