Yamaha plans on cashing into the current craze for premium motorcycles with its latest offering, the FZ25. Priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), this Yamaha is a rival to small-displacement naked sports bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 200 and the KTM Duke 200.
The FZ25 features muscular street-fighter styling like the current crop of Yamaha’s FZ motorcycles; akin to the FZ16.
Where it differs of course is with its 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This unit makes 20.9hp and 20Nm and the company claims that the bike can deliver up to 43kpl.
The FZ25 comes with LED head-lights, an all-digital LCD instrument cluster and alloy wheels. It, however, doesn’t get ABS as of now, but Yamaha says that the safety-feature will be added when ABS is made mandatory.
It gets disc brakes both up front and at the back – a 282mm unit up front and a 220mm rear disc, and the bike is suspended on telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
Expect Yamaha to commence deliveries of the bike in the next couple of months.
