The Mercedes C-Class has got a mid-life facelift in India with prices starting from Rs. 40 lakhs for the C220d Prime variant, Rs. 44.25 lakhs for the C220d Progressive variant, going up to Rs. 48.50 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom) for the range topping C300d AMG Line. The C-Class facelift has been launched with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine with different states of tune.
The exterior of the 2018 C-Class gets mild changes like new bumpers, new alloy wheels and a new silver colour option. The updated version also gets LED headlamps and tail lamps that differentiate it from its predecessor. On the inside, there is a new steering wheel with a dual touchpad control system like we have seen on the latest Mercedes cars.
Some of the features include rain-sensing sunroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen. The range topping C300d AMG Line additionally comes with Active Parking Assist. Powering the new C-Class is a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre, 4-cyl, diesel engine with two different tunes – 194 HP/400 Nm for the C220d and 245 HP/500 Nm for the C300d.
The new 2.0-litre diesel engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Currently, the new C-Class will only come with a diesel engine while the petrol motor is expected to launch later. The update will make the Mercedes C-Class more desirable in the segment. It competes with the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Jaguar XE in India.
