Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin have tied up and are working on creating new high-performance models similar to the Valkyrie hypercar. The British automaker is further considering entering Formula 1 as a title sponsor for the F1 team with an engine programme.
The Red Bull F1 team has been sponsored by Aston Martin since 2016. This sponsorship was part of an alliance that saw Red Bull designer Adrian Newey designing and creating the Valkyrie. However, this partnership has now grown stronger and the two companies will work together on new products. Aston Martin will also serve as the F1 team’s title sponsor. At the moment, there is no information on these upcoming products; however Aston Martin was quoted saying that the Valkyrie is the “first in a line of incredible products”. This means that the partnership will see the two companies produce similar performance oriented models.
From next season, the F1 team will be re-badged as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. However, the company will continue to use Renault Engines, currently branded as TAG Heuer units. However, Andy Palmer, CEO at Aston Martin has confirmed an interest in entering F1 as an engine manufacturer in 2021, when new technical rules are set to be introduced.
