The Audi A4 can now be had with a diesel engine. The carmaker has launched the diesel A4 at ₹40.20 lakh, and has commenced bookings for the same.
The engine under the hood is a 190hp 2.0L four-cylinder diesel that is married to Audi’s slick-shifting seven-speed automatic gearbox; a six-speed manual gearbox is also likely to be offered on a more affordable variant at a later stage.
What’s nice is that besides being more powerful than the petrol A4 – which comes with a 150hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol – the diesel will also be more fuel efficient. It claims to deliver an ARAI-rated fuel economy of 18.25kpl.
Save for the engine, the A4 diesel remains the same as its petrol sibling in terms of the equipment levels and features. It comes loaded with Audi’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’ instrument cluster, a three-zone auto climate control, and a wireless charging pad for Qi compatible phones to name a few.
The diesel A4 is a rival to cars like the Mercedes-Benz C220d and the BMW 320d.
