The rear-wheel-drive Audi R8 will be shown at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show.
The short teaser was uploaded onto Instagram and it shows an R8 performing donuts. The post was tagged with the IAA hashtag for the event in Frankfurt.
The standard 540hp, 5.2-litre V12 motor is expected, and a 610hp version could be introduced in the future. Unlike Lamborghini’s Huracan, this is the first time that Audi’s R8 will be exclusively rear-wheel-drive. The standard R8 will most probably share its turbocharged V6 engine with the Porsche Panamera and RS4, RS5 and RS Q5. This motor, however, is unlikely to be offered with the RWD R8.
The rear-wheel-drive version may just be positioned as an entry-level model to the R8 range. However, it could also just be a limited-run or special edition model.
