The company has released a teaser of the New A8 before its global reveal at the Audi summit in Barcelona on July 11, 2017. The car will be a significant improvement over its predecessor both in terms of appearance and performance.
The next-gen car will be offered as hybrids only – it’s the first Audi model to feature only hybrid powertrains. The entry-level versions will be mild hybrids and a plug-in version will appear higher up in the range that has electric-only driving potential. The hybrid systems will most likely be paired to V6 and V8 engines, and the current car’s W12 engine will most probably be carried forward as well.
The new A8 is based on the company’s MLB Evo platform, and will come loaded with tech – it will get remote parking and a host of autonomous driving functions. The teaser showed a few design aspects too – there’s a new multi-function steering inside the cabin, sleek LED tail-lamps stretching the width of the car, sleek LED headlamps and a new interpretation of Audi's signature, single-frame hexagonal grille.
While the car will be officially revealed on July 11, Audi announced that the car will be featured in the upcoming Spiderman: Homecoming movie, allowing a sneak-peak at the car before its debut.
