Allegations of secret meetings between German car manufacturers to form a cartel that worked to manipulate emissions are doing the rounds. The Group has stated that carmakers involved were talking about AdBlue tanking infrastructure in Europe, and not plotting ways to get around the stringent European emissions laws.
There is an EU investigation into an alleged cartel formed between Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, is ongoing and BMW has defended its position. It said in a statement, “BMW Group vehicles are not manipulated and comply with respective legal requirements.”
In the wake of the Volkswagen emissions scandal, the BMW has spoken out and has now reaffirmed its position on the matter.
Official investigations were conducted with the company regarding diesel manipulation, from which no evidence of wrongdoing was uncovered, according to a statement released by the group. The BMW Group has also stated that none of its Euro 6 diesel cars would need any tweaking to fix emissions.
