Computer-generates sketches of BMW’s upcoming X2 reveal that the SUV will retain much of the design of its futuristic concept. It will slot between the X1 and the X3 in BMW’s line-up of SUVs.
It will derive power from a 2.0-litre diesel engine which will be offered in numerous states of tune –150hp, 189hp and 230hp. A 191hp, 2.0-litre turbo petrol will also be available. Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual along with automatics.
The X2 will share its building blocks with the Mini Countryman, and will feature a sporty, coupe-like styling, similar to the larger X4 and X6 coupe SUVs. Further, spied images of the X2 suggest that it will be longer and wider than the X1.
This rival to the Volvo XC60 and Land Rover Discovery Sport is likely to go on sale globally in 2018.
