The company showed images of a mildly camouflaged 8-Series being endurance tested on the track in Aprilia. The car will be officially revealed in the coming months. The 8-series will take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Bentley Continental GT.
The car will share a lot of bits with the 7-series, in fact it will look a lot like a two-door coupé version of that car. It will also share naming conventions and engines with its sedan sibling. So, you can get an iPerformance-badged plug-in hybrid, an entry-level 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel and a more performance-oriented 4.4-litre V8 from the 750i xDrive with all-wheel drive. There may also be a V12-engined model in the works.
The M8 version will be the most aggressive and powerful and it will use an uprated version of the M5's 600hp 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Inside, you can expect the car to feature a lot of tech from the 7-series, including a lot of its autonomous tech.
