The BMW X3 M has been recently spotted testing in limited camouflage at the Nürburgring. The lack of camouflage gave away the upcoming SUV’s new bumpers, bigger exhaust tips, redesigned alloy wheels and LED headlamps and tail-lamps which will come as standard.
The biggest change however, will be under the hood as the X3 M is expected to use the M3/M4’s 430hp, 3.0-litre, straight-six, twin-turbo engine. The new suspension set-up BMW has been developing for the X3 M will also make its way on the X4 M due in 2018. The upcoming M version will be the top-spec X3 money can buy. It will sit above the X3 M40i M Performance, which is powered by a 360hp twin-turbo 3.0-litre engine. The 70hp gain on the X3 M is expected to make a big difference, the power gain is also expected to bring down the 0-100kph time considerably.
BMW is developing this sporty X3 variant to take on the Porsche Macan Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 internationally. The German manufacturer is expected to reveal this sporty SUV later this year.
