The company is all set to make its return to the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2018. Last
year, KTM stole the record from Ducati and now the company is trying to reclaim the record at this
year's event. It has enlisted the services of Carlin Dunne and Codie Vahsholtz. Dunne was the first rider
to complete the course in under 10 minutes, while Vahsholtz is the reigning middleweight record-
holder. Both riders will be piloting the new Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak Edition. Professional AMA
Superbike racer Chris Fillmore set the two-wheeler record in 2017 with a run of 9:49.625 aboard a KTM
1290 Super Duke R.
The Ducati is powered by the Euro-IV-compliant 1,262cc engine that does duty across the Multistrada
1260 range. It makes 158hp and 129.5Nm. This upgraded version of the bike comes with Ohlins
suspension at both ends, a Termignoni exhaust system, a bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS and
various carbon-fibre bits (the windscreen, front mud guard and air intake covers).
