The Hyundai Creta rival will be locally manufactured in Pune.

  • What to expect from Volkswagen’s T-Cross

The T-Cross is expected to hit showrooms in India in 2020. The version that will come to India won’t be identical to the ones sold aboard but will feature key changes that suit buyer preferences from our country.

The car will be priced somewhere in the region of Rs 12-18 lakh, but the company says it will be very competitive since it will come loaded to the teeth with gills with features. The SUV will be built in India on a heavily localised and lower cost version of VW (and Skoda’s) MQB A0 platform, called the MQB A0 IN (for India). The VW Group will invest one billion Euros (about Rs 7,996 crore) towards this project. A massive 90 percent of its parts will be sourced locally. This includes the 115hp, direct injection, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, the suspension, axles, driveshafts, a high quality interior and the monocoque chassis.

The T-Cross may eventually be renamed for India as well.
