Gurugram women police gets 50 scooters from Hero

Under its 'Sakhi' project, the company has partnered with Gurugram police and has presented 50 new scooters to women officers.

In an impressive act of goodwill, Hero MotoCorp has presented 50 scooters to the Gurugram women’s police force. They also awarded over 24 two-wheelers to the Uttarakhand police for it first all-woman first responder system called ‘Cheetah’. Project Sakhi is an initiative by the company focused on increasing women's safety.

A ceremony was organised to celebrate the handing over of the scooters, and a Citizen Safety Bike Rally’, which saw 100 riders participate, along with the 50 officers on their new Hero scooters. The head of CSR at Hero, Vijay Sethi handed over the bikes to the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram. Sethi said, “Two key areas of focus for Hero have been promoting road safety and women empowerment. We have a variety of programmes running at national and regional levels and some of them are in association with the local police." Speaking about their relation with the Haryana police force, "We already have a strong partnership with the Haryana police through various initiatives and I'm confident that this new initiative will allow our joint efforts to bring about effective changes.”

The company will also open 'Traffic Parks’ at Gurugram, Delhi, Rourkela, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Nagpur. These parks will serve as a venue for road safety awareness programmes, conducted for school and college students, as well as other institutions.
