Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has recalled 1200 units of its Jeep Compass in India to rectify a problem with the passenger side airbag. The units were manufactured between September 5 and November 19, 2017,according to a company spokesperson.

This is part of a global recall which was issued in November 22, 2017. The recall affected 7,000 units of the SUV in the US and around 1,000 cars in Canada and Mexico. The company initiated the recall to fix the loose fasteners, which could have found their way undetected into the airbag module during assembly. They could pose a problem when the front passenger airbags deploy, however, the company is not aware of any injuries, accidents, warranty claims or complaints related to the issue. For now, FCA
has advised customers whose vehicles are affected to stop using the front passenger seat until the issue is fixed. The company and its authorised dealers are contacting customers to fix this issue free of cost in the coming weeks.
