  • Kawasaki’s Ninja 400, ZX-10R SE to be on Display at Auto Expo 2018

Kawasaki will most probably show the new Ninja 400 at the upcoming Auto Expo, along with the new SE variant of the ZX-10R. The Ninja H2 SX (touring-orientated H2) is also expected to be at the stall. A road-legal enduro motorcycle from Kawasaki may also be revealed at the Auto Expo 2018.

Kawasaki Ninja 400

This bike uses an all-new 399cc parallel-twin engine which puts out 45hp and 38Nm. Thanks to weight saving measures, the bike is lighter than the Ninja 300, putting it at 168kg. The instrument cluster is directly borrowed from the Ninja 650. We aren’t sure when the company will bring the 400 to India as it recently introduced the Ninja 300 in BS-IV trim. The 400 also comes with ABS, which will be mandatory soon, so we may see it introduced in India soon. The Ninja 300’s price is ₹3.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), so you can expect the 400 to be priced higher.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE

The Kawasaki ZX-10R now has an SE variant. This version comes with an electronic semi-active suspension inspired by the company’s Superbike World Championship race bike. The bike is also fitted with additional equipment to add to its track abilities. Jonathan Rea’s Ninja ZX-10RR race bike is the key inspiration for this bike according to the company. It will be the company’s first motorcycle to feature Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS), which is meant to adapt to both road and riding conditions and give the bike the right amount of damping, with a reaction time of just one millisecond. Power is identical to the 10R – 207hp and 113.5Nm.

Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX

The supercharged H2 SX sports tourer was launched internationally, and it features improved fuel economy. The bike is available in two trims – the SX and the high-spec SX SE. The bike sees many tweaks to the engine and parts compared to the standard H2 and it’s only 18kg more than the stock H2, even after adding the fairing and touring add-ons. The SX SE variant is fitted with the company’s first colour TFT LCD instrument cluster, as well as LED cornering lights. It also comes with an up-down quickshifter, Kawasaki Launch Control Mode (KLCM), a large windscreen and heated grips.

Dirt bikes

The company has launched several non-road-legal, dirt-biased motorcycles. These include the KLX 110 in late 2015, followed by the KX100 and KX250F in December 2016. In January 2017, it brought the off-road, trail-style KLX 140G here too. Then it got the new KX250F, KX450F and KLX450R to India as well. All of these bikes will be on display at this year’s Auto Expo. Kawasaki could also launch a bike like the KLX 250 in India. This would be the first road-legal dirt/enduro bike offering in the country.
