Kia's flagship seven-seat SUV, the Sorento, was spotted testing in Andhra Pradesh. Oddly enough, this test mule was spotted with a locally registered number plate in the name of Kia Motors India instead of an international plate that most test cars sport.
It was showcased at the dealers meet that Kia conducted in August last year. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the carmaker could bring the Sorento to India. The Sorento features a 188hp, 2.2-litre petrol, a 185hp, 2.0-litre diesel and a 200hp, 2.2-litre diesel. The car uses an eight-speed automatic, and also offers a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto. You can also get a four-wheel drive version.
The company is investing ₹7,000 crore in its plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Kia says it can make 3,00,000 units annually and the plant will go live in 2019.
