Kia’s SP Concept SUV is designed specifically with our market in mind. And the production version of this Creta-rivalling SUV will be the first model that Korean company Kia puts on sale for the Indian consumer in 2019.
The SP Concept SUV is a far more rigid and square-edged take on Kia’s current design language. However, take a step back, and the Kia family resemblance is clear. In front, the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and slim headlamps are reminiscent of the Kia Optima, but from them extend a set of large fog lamp units. At the rear, the tail gets chrome at its base and across the tailgate. Tail-lamps that are quite familiar and look reminiscent of those on the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai’s best-selling SUV that will be its chief rival in production form. Also, Kia is Hyundai’s sister company and there is a possibility of platform commonalities between the two SUVs. Kia has not revealed much about its engines or mechanical setup as of now.
The SP Concept is still a concept and the production version could be expected to drop some of the extravagances as usually is the case.Kia is already underway on its 1.1-billion-dollar factory in Andhra Pradesh and despite a wide range of models to choose from its international range most of which are also on display at Kia’s Auto Expo stall.
