The Urus SUV is now on sale in India and costs ₹3 crore (ex-showroom). The car is built on the MLB Evo platform that also underpins cars like the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
The Urus measures over 5 metres in length, and in terms of design, it features styling touches inspired by Lambo's first SUV, the LM002.
Under the hood sits a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 650hp and 850Nm. The motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels (with a 40:60 front-rear split). According to Lamborghini, the car can hit 100kph in 3.6sec and can hit a top speed of 305kph, which means the Urus is currently the fastest SUV on the planet.
The Urus features six drive modes - Strada, Sport and Corsa, Neve (snow), Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand), along with Ego, a fully customisable mode.
The interiors are inspired by cars like the Huracan and Aventador, with plenty of hexagonal elements and the jet fighter-style engine start button. You also get a customisable TFT screen and at the centre sits Lamborghini’s infotainment system. The company wants to double annual global sales to 7,000 cars with help from the Urus. The quota of cars for 2018 for India have already been sold.
