Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand is all set to launch three new models in India, one of which is the ES300h hybrid sedan. What new does it bring to the table for luxury car buyers? Here’s a look.
Power talk
The sedan will get a 2.5-litre petrol engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor and delivers a combined output of 200hp; power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. The powertrain is similar to that found in the Toyota Camry Hybrid, and because of the same, the ES is a strong candidate for being locally assembled in India. This will make it more affordable in future too.
On the inside
Lexus is all about luxury, and that means a supremely comfortable interior with plenty of leather, wood and plush bits thrown all around the cabin. Plus, with a 2819mm wheelbase, it’s going to be quite a spacious car with plenty of room to stretch out in the back seat.
Features galore
Space and comfort aside, the ES is going to be packed with all the bells and every last whistle that you could want in a luxury car. The list includes a panoramic sunroof, electric-adjust front seats, an eight-speaker audio system and a host of optional equipment like heated and ventilated front seats and bi-LED headlamps.
How much money?
As stated earlier, the ES300h will be introduced as a full import and will be sold at an estimated Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) or even more. This will be the most affordable car in Lexus’s initial line-up for India. However, it’s going to get more affordable once Lexus commences local assembly for the model.
