Lexus’ flagship will compete against Mercedes-Maybach’s S500, so it’s crucial that this car comes packed with tech. Here is everything you need to know about it.
1. L stands for Luxury:
The LS 500h is a luxury sedan, so it’s made with the best materials, offers a tonne of equipment, space, features and creature comforts. There are multiple screens, heated seats with massage features, loads of seat adjustment capabilities, plush air suspension, a 23-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system and active noise cancellation for the interior. The rear seat is the most luxurious – there are two bucket-shaped seats, which individually recline by up to 48 degrees, with an extended footrest available as an optional extra.
2. It’s long:
The LS 500h is over 5.2m long and has a wheelbase of 3.1m. It is a luxury limousine after all.
3. It looks rather cool:
The front is dominated by Lexus’ new-age, signature, oversized-hourglass-shaped grille and aggressive-looking headlights. And the sleek looking car even has a very coupé-like profile. This design flair is carried forward to the cabin as well, visible especially in the dashboard. There are lots of screens to replace buttons and the materials and textures are rich and futuristic.
4. It’s got a hybrid powertrain:
This car uses a hybrid powertrain, which is a mix of a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and two electric motors. The two motors combined put out 354hp, which is channelled via a 10-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The car is quick for its size, it can hit 100kph in 5.4sec.
5. It’s all about the money, money, money:
The LS 500h is available in three variants – Luxury, Ultra Luxury and Distinct - and it is expensive to own, and will set you back by at least ₹1.77 crore, ₹1.82 crore and ₹1.93 crore, respectively (all prices ex-showroom India).
