The full-size diesel SUV is priced at ₹2.32 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and its price places the Lexus up against the likes of the Range Rover.
Built on the same platform as Toyota’s Land Cruiser, the LX450d is a five-seater only and has a 265hp, 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine under the hood that makes 650Nm of torque. This motor is paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The LX450d is a capable off-roader as well. It comes packed with features including four-zone auto climate control, electric-adjust front seats and steering column, a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system and dual infotainment displays for rear seat occupants to name a few.
For now, it’s only available as a diesel, with the seven-seat LX570, powered by a 5.7-litre V8 petrol motor, expected to come in later.
The LX is now the company’s third model to officially go on sale in India, following the Camry Hybrid-based ES300h sedan and the RX450h hybrid mid-size luxury SUV.
