The Shanghai motor show will see the reveal of the E-Motion concept, an electric Sports Car by MG. The company will go ahead with production of the concept if feedback and response at the motor show is positive. It will be the first all-electric MG model to be produced since the EV concept of 2014.
The E-motion is said to be a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S. The Car has been designed keeping the future in mind. Its all-electric powertrain has been developed in-house, the concept is claimed to be capable of 0-100kph in less than 4.0sec and has a range of over 500km. It takes styling tips from MG's upcoming ZS small SUV, while the front grille has a dotted pattern adorning the traditional mesh. A motif incorporated into the headlight cluster appears to mimic the MG Icon concept of 2012, though, which in turn pays tribute to the MG B.
The doors open in butterfly fashion and the inside comes fitted with a touchscreen infotainment for both the front and rear passengers plus an advanced connectivity system. Matthew Cheyne, sales and marketing boss for MG Motor UK, says that the E-motion concept ‘demonstrates our global vision for the future’ and that it’s ‘the latest step to achieving the ultimate driving experience.’
