The Mercedes engineers at Affalterbach have come up with the AMG version of the new generation A-Class. The new Mercedes-AMG A35 comes with performance oriented styling as well as mechanicals. While even the regular new gen A-Class has not yet launched in India, the AMG version is not expected anytime soon either.
In terms of styling, the A35 AMG looks aggressive with a new set of sporty bumpers along with a new grille up front and a huge roof mounted spoiler that adds to the AMG appeal of the hot hatch. Additionally, the exterior gets a new front diffuser, splitters and new lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels. Some of the updates on the exterior are done for improved aerodynamics.
The interiors get dark colour tones, mostly black and silver along with carbon fibre elements. There is a flat bottom steering wheel and the instrument cluster gets AMG specific settings as well. The upholstery is treated in black with red contrasting stitches.
Powering the Mercedes-AMG A35 is a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 301 BHP of power and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that channels that AMG power to all the four wheels. Yes it has an all-wheel drive system for better dynamics and grip.
The new engine offers strong performance and Mercedes claims a 0-100 km/hr acceleration in 4.7 seconds while the top speed has been limited to 250 km/hr. Performance improvements include additional braces and aluminum plate for torsional stiffness. There is an AMG Ride Control suspension along with optional Adaptive Damping System with three different modes.
