The company will launch its high-performance AMG GT R and the drop-top AMG GT Roadster on August 21, 2017.
The GT-R is the fastest, most advanced, range-topping model of the Mercedes-AMG GT series of cars. The GT-R is the road-going version of the Nürburgring 24-hour race-winning GT3, which is the current title holder for fastest rear-wheel-drive car around the circuit.
Under the hood sits Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre, twin-turbo, V8 engine that makes 585hp and 700Nm of torque. All this power takes the car to 100kph in a mere 3.6sec, and propels it to a top-speed of 317kph. Power is channelled via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The car features a heavily reworked double-wishbone suspension system developed for the GT3 racer. The car’s AMG Dynamic Select function allows you to vary the car’s three damping characteristics – Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. The biggest change here is the steering - the GT R is the first Mercedes-AMG model to have rear-wheel steering.
The company will also launch the AMG GT Roadster in India on the same day. The Roadster features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts out 469hp and 630Nm of torque.
