Mitsubishi’s Outlander crossover could make its way here later this year. The all-new Outlander that’s coming here is the third-gen model that’s been on sale in international markets since 2012. For sale here, the crossover will be imported from Japan and will be sold in around 50 Mitsubishi dealerships.
This Outlander has been through its mid-cycle refresh already. The front gets an intricate design for the grille – giving it immense presence. There’s brushed aluminium and chrome too, including a vertical chrome frame on either side of it. The headlights are LED projector units and come with separate LED daytime units. From the side, this car has a wagon-like profile – it features mild cladding around the base, a silver strip on the bottom of the doors and smart 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s a large and simple looking tailgate, with subtle chrome accents surrounding the horizontally-positioned LED tail-lamps.
The Outlander for India is 4,695mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,710mm high – it’s longer than the Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V. The car is available only in a single variant with seven seats. Under the hood, sits the tried and tested 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol motor (Code: 4J12) that delivers 169hp and 225Nm of torque. It’s mated to a six-step CVT gearbox and features the company’s latest Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) AWD system with an Active Front Differential and a number of selectable driving modes.
There is no official confirmation about the car’s launch here for now, but dealers in some cities have started accepting bookings. Deliveries will commence in September and dealers appear to be quoting a price of around ₹29 lakh.
