  • All you need to know about Tata’s Tigor

Tata recently launched its Tigor in India and there are a lot of interesting features that Tata has thrown in. The Tigor is the third model to be based on Tata Motors's IMPACT design tenet - it has been on sale since March 29th. The car is built on the same platform as the Tiago - prices of the new model start from ₹4.70 lakh for the base petrol and go up to ₹7.09 lakh for the top-trim diesel.

Owing to its unique rear-end styling, it has been labelled a 'Styleback' by the company. Other than the rear, it borrows elements from the Tiago like its engine and interior. The compact sedan measures 3,992mm in length, 1,677mm in width, and 1,537mm in height, while the wheelbase reaches a comfortable 2450mm. Coming to power, the Tigor makes use of the same engines as the Tiago with an 85hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and 70hp, 1.05-litre, diesel engines mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variant will ride on 15-inch alloy wheels, while the diesel one gets 14-inch wheels.

The interior is familiar – it is after all the Tiago with a boot strapped on. The Tigor also gets touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers, AUX, USB, Android smartphone-based navigation and steering-mounted audio controls. Other features added are tilt steering, driver side auto down power window with delay function and electrically adjustable ORVMs. It also comes sporting blacked out headlamps with projector lights, fog lamps and ORVM integrated LED turn indicators and wraparound LED taillamps. Also, a roof mounted stop light.

The Tigor is available in four variants – XE, XT, XZ and XZ (O) – with all but the entry-level variants offering good levels of equipment. The XE trims offer basic equipment such as air conditioning, power steering and internally adjustable wing mirrors.

The XT will come equipped with the Harman-sourced infotainment system, driver seat height adjusts, power windows, rear centre armrest, remote locking, rear parking sensors and safety measures like ABS. On the other hand, The XZ trim comes with projector headlamps and electric boot unlocking and rear defogger. The XZ comes with auto climate control, a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a reverse camera.
