The BMW Group stall at the Auto Expo 2018 will also have a stellar display by Mini. The British carmaker will show its Cooper 3-Door, Cooper 5-Door, Convertible and the Clubman. The mainstay will be the new, second-generation Countryman, which the company will launch at the show.
The countryman shares its platform, design and engine with the standard hatch. The new Countryman is larger than its predecessor and is looked at the most practical Mini. It comes with a large boot, which is expandable to 1,390 litres with the rear seats folded.
The Countryman is powered by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines in varied states of tune. A plug-in hybrid model could debut in some international markets, but it won’t make it to India anytime soon. The motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Mini could price the new Countryman at around ₹40-45 lakh (ex-showroom).
