Engine details of the upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport have been revealed before its official debut at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show.
In its latest avatar, the hot-hatch will be powered by a 140hp, 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine which will be paired with a slick manual gearbox. This engine replaces the older car’s 1.6-litre petrol motor. The new car is built on the same underpinnings as the recently launched Maruti Dzire. It is lighter than the previous Swift Sport, and Suzuki says that it will be just as engaging to drive.
The new Maruti Swift will make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo, and there’s a good chance that the hotter Sport will be introduced here as well.
Cars like the Volkswagen Polo GTI, the Fiat Abarth Punto, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS are suggestive of the fact that buyers are slowly but surely warming up to hot hatchbacks. If Maruti introduces the Swift Sport here with a competitive price-tag, the company may just have something for India’s enthusiast car buyers.
