Electric mobility was undoubtedly the theme of Auto Expo 2018, since this segment is further backed by the government; we saw a lot more two-wheelers this time. Here is a list of bikes we found most important.

UM Renegade Thor

UM revealed its first electric bike for the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2018. It is called the Renegade Thor and like most of UM’s other offerings it is a cruiser. Launched at ₹9.9 lakh, the electric cruiser is also the most expensive e-motorcycle to go on sale in India. In terms of styling, the Thor features a flowing design and loads of chrome. At first glance, the Thor looks like a regular bike with the dummy fuel tank and conventional styling. However, once you notice the electric motor in the bike you begin to realise its electric nature. Powering the bike is a 30kW motor that makes 70Nm of torque and comes paired to a five-speed gearbox. It has a range of 270km and a top speed of 180kph. Bookings for the Thor will start in April this year.

Twenty Two Motors Flow

Twenty Two Motors launched its electric scooter, the Flow in India. It is powered by a 2.1kW motor that produces a claimed 90Nm of torque helping it reach a top speed of 60kph. The scooter is priced at ₹74,740 and features an app-based security system. Furthermore, the scooter only weighs 85kg and can deliver a claimed range of 80km. Other features include cruise control, hill assist and regenerative braking.

TVS Creon

This time around, TVS brought in something different to its concept line-up. Called the Creon, the e-scooter shared the stage with the Zeppelin cruiser. The first thing that one will notice is the sleek styling of the scooter. It is equipped with all-LED lighting and also features a TFT screen. It is powered by a 12kW electric powertrain that can do 0-60kph in 5.1 seconds. The scooter has a claimed range of 80km and features loads of tech like riding modes, park assist, GPS and more.

Emflux One

The Emflux One’s impressive claimed power figures surprised most at the Auto Expo 2018. To give you an idea, the bike can do the 0-100kph run in 3 seconds and hit a claimed top speed of 200kph. It is powered by a 60kW electric motor which puts out a claimed 84Nm of torque. The Emflux is air-cooled and features a battery pack manufactured by Samsung. Pricing for the Emflux One will be around the ₹5-6lakh rupee mark and like most other electric two-wheelers on display it also features a TFT screen with GPS and more.

Honda PCX Electric

The PCX scooter was first displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo; Honda for 2018 has showcased an electric version of the same. Styling-wise, the PCX electric looks identical to the gasoline powered PCX. It uses a small 0.98kW motor that comes with a removable battery packs. The overall range can also be doubled with the help of additional battery packs that the scooter can be fit with. The India-debut of this scooter is highly unlikely; however, Honda may launch it in a few Asian markets.

Vespa Elettrica

Piaggio also took to the stage with its electric offering – the Vespa Elettrica. It uses the conventional Vespa design language and comes in a unique chrome grey colour scheme. It is powered by a 2kW electric motor and is offered in two versions – standard and X. The standard features a range of 100km while the X can do a claimed 200km. The X also comes equipped with a four-stroke petrol motor that helps charge the battery pack. It will go on sale in Europe this year however it’s not expected to arrive in India anytime soon.
