The company has announced an increase in prices by up to ₹15,000 across both its brands, Nissan and Datsun. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Toyota, Jeep, Renault, Volkswagen, Skoda and Isuzu, have already raised prices.

The car industry has attributed the hike to a rise in input costs and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan, said that the price hike will help the company to optimise manufacturing efficiencies.

In November, Nissan sold 3,976 units, a rise of 0.03 percent, compared to last November. From April to November, the company’s saw a sales dip of 9.85 percent. It managed to sell 35,271 units.
