All three variants of its upcoming 8-series flagship were recently revealed in patent images. Production of the four-door Gran Coupé will begin in 2019, and the concept version was shown earlier at the Geneva motor show as the M8 Gran Coupé concept.
The production version will be much more toned down in comparison. The base 8-series will be offered in its 840d guise and the range will go up to an M850i-badged model. The Gran Coupé is expected to follow suit, while the M8 Gran Coupé will be the car that sits at the top the range.
BMW also used the M8 GTE, the racing version of the M8 to compete in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race. The M8 will be sold at a much higher premium over the standard 8-series' starting price.
