Renault has slashed prices of some of its cars by up to 7 percent. The cut in prices are due to the drop in effective tax rates on automobiles post the implementation of Goods and Service tax (GST),
As per the latest prices, the Kwid Climber AMT is cheaper by anywhere between ₹5,200 to ₹29,500, the Lodgy Stepway MPV has gotten more affordable by ₹25,700 - ₹88,600, while some variants of the Duster SUV have seen price cuts in the region of ₹30,400 - ₹1.04 lakh. The above mentioned prices are subject to change from state to state.
Before Renault, Maruti, Tata Motors, Honda, Mahindra, Toyota, along with luxury carmakers like Audi, BMW, Jaguar, and Mercedes announced their post-GST prices.
Under GST, taxes on passenger vehicles (except hybrids) have dropped to the tune of 2.25 - 12 percent, depending on the segment. Fuel-efficient hybrids, however, will be costlier now, as there’s a 12.7 percent hike in tax rates on them.
