Renault is currently working on entry-level products for India. One of which is a seven-seat version of the Kwid that will target first-time car buyers. Based on the CMF-A+ platform, the car will see a market launch, soon. Gérard Detourbet, Alliance Managing Director, Alliance A-Segment development unit, said, "It's clear that we did not create the platform (CMF-A) only for one car. On each platform we can develop a lot of things. Not only because we can use different type of bodies but also because we have a lot of possible branding."

There will be a second model that will follow, but later. "Yes, we will have more than one model (on the CMF-A+ platform) at the end," says Detourbet. Nissan, Renault's Alliance partner, could also work on a similar car on the CMF-A+ platform but it may "not necessarily be a seven-seater".

Since launch in October 2015, the Kwid has sold over 200,000 units in India.
