  • Maruti’s S-Cross Facelift to Launch on September 28

The S-Cross, despite being a good product, found few takers due to its initially high prices. It was available with two diesel engine options – Fiat-sourced 1.3- and 1.6-litre units – and no petrol option. It looks like Maruti is giving it a shot in the arm, with this facelifted version, which will be revealed on September 28

The facelifted S-Cross Features an aggressive front-end and more SUV-like looks. The S-cross will be fitted with Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid system, coupled with the 1.3-litre motor. The manufacturer has also decided to discontinue the 1.6-litre engine. Maruti will add its SHVS mild-hybrid system to the 1.3-litre diesel mill, which is claimed to effect a seven percent improvement in fuel efficiency over the current diesel car in Indian driving conditions.

As far as the appearance of the car is concerned, majority of the changes are at the front. The first change you will notice is the reworked grille – it is now more upright and has vertical slats inside. The car also uses new projector headlamps and a new redesigned bumper as well. The new S-Cross also has redesigned alloy wheels, however, at the rear, the car will remain largely unchanged.

On the inside, the cabin gets updated instrument cluster dials with a new multi-information display, new interior colour combinations, and upholstery with contrast stitching. The top-spec Alpha variant will feature LED projector lens headlamps with black inserts, while the rest of the range will get HID projector headlamps.

The facelifted S-Cross’ pricing is likely to rise due to the addition of the SHVS technology. Additionally, the recent rise in cess on larger cars will further drive up the prices.
