The upcoming SUV from Skoda will feature a 143hp 2.0-litre diesel engine.
Skoda is expected to launch the Kodiaq in India on October 4. The SUV is powered by a 143hp 2.0-litre diesel engine. The Kodiaq, in its top-spec trim, will feature an auto gearbox and AWD.
The Kodiaq, named after an Alaskan bear, is Skoda’s first seven-seat vehicle and will sit at the top of the company’s model range, above the Superb. The large flagship SUV from Skoda is built on the same platform as the Superb and the Octavia. This Skoda has a ground clearance of 190mm and water wading depth ability of 300mm, which means, the Kodiaq should be able to tackle minor off-road segments. The all-wheel drive (AWD) in the top-spec variant should help that some more.
The 143hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine in the Kodiaq is the same engine as the one powering the Octavia and VW Tiguan. In terms of features, the Kodiaq has a large touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a hands-free parking assist and full-LED lighting all-round.
With an expected price of ₹27-32 lakh (ex-showroom), the seven-seat Skoda Kodiaq SUV will be a direct rival to the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. Sources also suggest that a petrol variant is possible in the future and, maybe, even a high-performance RS version.
