India’s largest carmaker showcased a funky little convertible SUV, the Suzuki e-Survivor in its pavilion at the Auto Expo 2018. Based on a ladder-frame chassis, it is powered by an electric motor at each of its wheels, effectively making it a four-wheel-drive car. The e-Survivor concept, which was first showcased at the 2017 Tokyo motor show is meant to preview Suzuki’s future small SUVs. In fact, the e-survivor concept is based on Suzuki's vision of the future of mobility, showcasing four major technologies - Four-Wheel Drive, Autonomous, Connected and Electric.
The Japanese brand says that the e-Survivor is meant to be a serious off-roader, with its high ground clearance, massive wheel arches with rugged tyres and minimal overhangs. Also, it is built using lightweight materials for a lower kerb weight that will aid in off-roading. Suzuki claims that it has drawn inspiration from its very own Vitara and the Jimny SUVs in designing this concept. The interior is dominated by a spherical display that shows the car and its immediate surroundings.
Additionally, there are also screens on the steering wheel and one on the lower part of the windshield which displays augmented reality images of objects in front of the car that are in the blind spot in front of the bumper.
