The 45X is Tata Motor’s take on what a premium hatchback should look like and by the looks of it alone its safe to say it is a terrific interpretation. The 45X is designed to wow – and that it does quite easily, with a strong and confident stance that is quite futuristic. Notably, the design theme of the hatchback also points towards the future of design for Tata vehicles.
The design is bold and self-assured with its slim lights up front, a well-defined ‘humanity line’ that links the lights and grille and smartly detailed bumpers. The car's surfacing is strong and the styling package features many eye-catching details. There’s a strong ridge on the side that flows down from the A-pillar and then kinks back upward, as it extends to the rear. There are also darkened and upswept style elements under the side windows, as well as skirts at the base of the doors, which are made prominent by their contrasting colours. Other highlights of the car include well-defined wheel arches, sharply cut rear doors, a sharp rear windscreen rake and a blackened-out roof spoiler that leads on from the contrast roof.
45X’s interiors were not showcased as of now, however, it is expected to be quite fetching on the inside as well with a large emphasis on practicality and connectivity. Engine and gearbox options are not known as of now but expect it to come in petrol and diesel variants with option of manual and automatic transmissions.
When it goes in production, sometime in 2019, the 45X will be the first Tata vehicle to be built on the company’s new AMP platform (Advanced modular platform).
