The Nexon accounts for close to 53 percent of the carmaker’s UV sales in India. The Nexon was launched seven months ago and Tata has sold a total of 27,747 units. Last month, Tata sold a total of 4,605 units, averaging nearly 4,000 units a month. The company has seen sharp growth, it sold 51,891 units (+178.20 percent) in FY2018, compared to FY2017 sales of 18,652 units. In March 2018 alone, the company’s UV sales went up to 7,753 units, registering growth of 223 percent (March 2017: 2,401 units). A lot of this is demand is thanks to cars like the Nexon and the Hexa.
The waiting period for a new Nexon is currently seven weeks, depending on the variant. Tata says it has received 25,000 bookings for the car, which has pushed waiting periods. The top XZ+ and XT trims, with the dual-tone paint shade option on the XZ+ are the most popular. Over 65 percent of its customer base is less than 35 years old and dealers have said the car’s funky, yet butch face is what is bringing buyers to the showroom.
Also, the Harman-sourced infotainment system and multi-drive modes only make the deal that much sweeter. Tata is also looking at launching an AMT version at the end of May this year.
