The first batch of Nexon compact SUVs have rolled out from the company’s Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. Tata dealerships will have the car on display soon ahead of its market launch this festive season.
It will be powered by a 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit that also makes the same amount of power. The diesel engine makes 260Nm of torque, and the petrol makes 170Nm. The engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, however, a diesel-AMT could possibly join the line-up later.
The car is designed using Tata’s Impact design language, earlier used on the Hexa, the Tiago and the Tigor compact sedan. On the inside, there’s a free-standing 6.5-inch touchscreen that sits atop the dash, while the rest of the interior is fairly straightforward. The Nexon will come with features like climate control and rear aircon vents as well.
The car will come fitted with a drive mode controller that will let you choose between three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport.
The Nexon will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza when launched.
