The Yaris sedan will rival the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It will be shown at the upcoming Auto Expo and will be launched at the end of the year.
The overall design of the Yaris is conventional-looking but Toyota has added some adventurous styling details, especially at the front, to jazz up its appearance. The cabin looks well put togethere and features a neatly styled dash with its touchscreen positioned high up. There’s a chunky steering wheel, chrome-ringed dials and silver accents throughout the cabin. However, the cabin may vary from the one we’ve seen on the international car, so we’ll only know the exact specifications once Toyota reveals it.
The Yaris in India will be powered by a 107hp and 1.5-litre petrol engine and there will be no diesel initially. A hybrid version of the 1.5-litre petrol could join the line-up in the future. There will be a five-speed gearbox as standard and an optional 7-step CVT automatic.
Expect prices to range from ₹8.5-11 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
