The Polo-based GTI used to cost Rs 25.99 lakh before GST kicked in. VW has now announced a reduction of Rs 6 lakh on its hot hatch.
Under the hood sits a 1.8-litre, turbo-petrol motor that puts out a whopping 192hp and 250Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The GTI can hit 100kph in a claimed 7.2 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 233kph. The GTI also comes fitted with a limited-slip differential, disc brakes with ABS, ESP and hill-hold control.
The GTI comes with three doors, GTI badges, a new honeycomb mesh grille, red accents in the full LED headlamps, sportier bumpers and a wider track with bigger 16-inch wheels (17-inchers are optional). A limited run of 99 models will make their way to the Indian market and bookings are still open on the Volkswagen India website.
