The company has added a 1.0-litre petrol engine to the Ameo range and the same engine was introduced in the Polo line-up recently. The engine is a 999cc, three-cylinder unit that makes 76hp and 95Nm. It takes the place of the earlier 75hp, 1.2-litre motor, which the company discontinued.
The new engine is BS-VI emission norms ready and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, but there won’t be a petrol-automatic configuration on offer. A 1.5-litre diesel engine with an optional DSG transmission is on offer.
To introduce the new engine, the company has launched the Ameo Pace. The Ameo Pace is based on the mid-spec Comfortline variant and gets a unique faux carbon-fibre spoiler, black outside mirrors, alloy wheels and cruise control. The car is available for Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
