Volvo is likely to reveal its brand spanking new XC40 crossover at the Shanghai auto show in April. The crossover’s unveiling is expected to be alongside the launch of Lynk & Co.’s (Volvo’s sister brand under Geely) 01 SUV, which will be manufactured at the same plant in China as the XC40. Volvo is likely to follow the XC40 with its new S40 sedan, which will be built on the same set of underpinnings as its crossover sibling.
Unlike most manufacturers, Volvo isn’t using the upcoming Geneva motor show as a springboard for its XC40. For Geneva, however, Volvo is expected to bring in a replacement of its ageing XC60 SUV. This will be an all-new model that’ll be built with the same set of modular bits as the S90 sedan and the XC90 SUV. Expect it to offer the option of petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.
