The company has launched a petrol version of its popular XUV500. For now, it’s available with a six-speed automatic gearbox and is available only in a single trim. This ‘G AT’ variant costs ₹15.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 2.2-litre petrol engine makes 140hp and 320Nm. The XUV500 Petrol is fitted with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, cruise control, push button start, and an eight-way adjustable driver seat. On the safety front, you get ESP with rollover mitigation, dual airbags and ABS with EBD. The carmaker plans to offer the option of a petrol variant across its entire portfolio from 2018 onwards.
The company will also evaluate sales and then decide whether or not to add it to the Scorpio line-up. The carmaker is also working on an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SsangYong.
