In a move that is certain to make bike aficionados here very happy, Ducati has decided to launch as many as five new bikes this year itself. With these launches, almost all of Ducati's global line-up will be available in India. The first of these launches will take place in June-July, and the rest too will happen within four consecutive months.
The five new models to be introduced here are the Multistrada 950, the Monster 797, the Scrambler Desert Sled, Scrambler Café Racer and the SuperSport. The SuperSport, essentially a Monster with a fairing, is powered by a 937cc, twin-cylinder engine that makes 113hp at 9,250rpm. Managing Director, Ducati India, Ravi Avalur said, "There is nothing that we offer internationally that we don't intend to make available to customers in India."
The next few months will prove pivotal for the premium motorcycle market in India, with new contenders from major auto makers such as Ducati and BMW.
